This Guild was established in November 1989, with thirty members. Our current membership consists of 100+ members. The goal of the guild is to promote quilting and educate the public about the craft of quilting.
Membership is open to the public and available upon receipt of annual membership dues of thirty dollars. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month unless otherwise announced. Meetings consist of a program, business meeting and Show and Tell.
Executive Committee Board Members are elected by the membership to serve one-year terms.
Members are asked to make and wear name tags to facilitate getting to know other members.
Members can earn pins to wear on their name badges by bringing finished quilts to Show & Tell. See the link to the left to learn how to earn a pin. Wear your pride! Guild pins are also available for sale.
The Guild supports the following charities on a regular basis and others as needed.
The Guild presents Quilts by the Sea, our triennial quilt show. The next Quilts by the Sea Show is February 21-22, 2020.
The show is open to the public for an admission fee where judged quilts made by members are professionally displayed. The show features a raffle quilt, silent auction, raffle baskets, boutique and quilt for sale.
As a Guild member, you are required to purchase a certain number of quilt raffle tickets that you may sell or enter into the raffle yourself to support the Quilts by the Sea Show.
An annual quilt retreat is held at Epworth-by-the-Sea on St. Simons Island. Members only pay a table fee to the facility to attend. Depending on how you wish to retreat you may reserve as many nights as you are able to attend in a semi-private or private room. The fee includes all meals!
Whether you stay for the whole retreat, just a night or only come as a Day Tripper (come in for the day) you will have so much fun! There are short workshop type projects taught by knowledgeable quilters plus you have plenty of time to work on your own projects without having to cook meals or make up your bed! Check out the details under the Retreat tab above.
