October Meeting

October 9, 2018  Gather 6:30 pm  Meeting begins 7:00 pm

 

Making a Collage Quilt

 Presentation by

Laurie Malm, Lollipops Quilt Shop

 

Laurie presents the techniques to create a collage quilt, a truly fun and creative fiber work of art that has captured artists worldwide. The program is followed by an all-day workshop on the 10th.

 

Dyeing for Fabrics Challenge  

Finished Size:  Your choice     Due Date: October 9, 2018

                                         

Completed Requirements:  Must use fabric that you dyed during our “Dying for Fabric” workshop,

held on February 14, 2018.

The edges must be finished but can be bound, faced, stitched over or edge trim…just no raw edges.

Other: You are totally unrestricted in your design, and execution, meaning you may paint, stamp,

resists and/or otherwise manipulate your fabric.

You may embellish to your heart’s content-no restrictions on dimensional embellishments.

That being said, please understand that any of the above-mentioned design ideas

are NOT mandatory for your project.

Note: you may submit your project to Lauree prior to October 9.

Making a Collage Quilt: A Whole-Day Workshop

Wed. October 10, 2018

9 am - 3 pm

Council on Aging

 

Laurie Malm, owner of Lollipops Quilt Shop, will spend the day with us teaching the collage quilt methods,

including creating landscapes.  Purchase the quilt kit at the shop. 

This workshop is a “First Come First on the List” event.  We have space limitations.

Payment MUST be made at time of registration to secure your spot. 

Cost for Workshop: Only $25.

October Message from the President

 

Hi, Fellow Quilters,

 

The first community event this Guild year is THIS Saturday, the 6th. The Arts and Culture of Nassau County Event will be held 10 am – 2 pm at the Peck Center on Amelia Island. The Guild will be represented and we will have our Community Quilt available for everyone to quilt a few stitches. Join us if you can!

 

A volunteer position has just opened up. The Doorprize & 50/50 position is looking for a happy person who is able to arrive early to greet members and guests and sell 50/50 tickets. For more information or to accept this position call Roz at 415-1405!
